MOAD is thrilled to host its second annual art contest. This year’s theme focuses on the “Spirit of Miami”. Open to all Miami Dade College students over the age of 18, this contest is an opportunity to explore the diverse and profound meanings connected to Miami’s spirit. What does the ‘Spirit of Miami’ mean to you?

Is it the rhythm of the streets, the colors of the skyline, or the resilience of its people? Whether it’s your neighborhood, a cultural tradition, or a dream for the future, the ‘Spirit of Miami’ is everywhere! You can find it in neighborhood murals, the rhythms of cafes and clubs, and the stories held within the walls of the Freedom Tower. Show us how you depict the heart and soul of our city through your art!

Each entry should answer the prompt: What is the spirit of Miami?

Submissions will be collected through November 3, 2025. The winner will be announced on December 1, 2025, and will receive a $200 gift certificate courtesy of Blick Art Materials, and will be featured on MOAD’s Instagram page (@moadmdc) and The Freedom Tower’s Instagram page (@miamifreedomtower). Up to three submissions are allowed per person.

The winner and two runner ups will be invited with one guest each to attend MOAD’s annual Miami Art Week Reception taking place on Friday, December 5.

Please email your entries to Jennifer Weinberg at [email protected].
