MOAD is thrilled to host an art contest, focused on the theme of “Home”. Open to all Miami Dade College students over the age of 18, this contest is an opportunity to explore the diverse and profound meanings connected to the word “Home”. Is it a place, a feeling, or a person? Is it more impactful to depict it abstractly, or to make a naturalistic representation? Is home represented by a collage or a photograph? Creative interpretations are welcome.
As MOAD celebrates the 100th birthday of the historic Freedom Tower, we encourage our community to think about place and identity. What informs our ideas of home? Can a building mark the identity of a city, of a person?
These are all possible prompts to consider while working on contest submissions. Each entry should answer the prompt: What is home to you?
Submissions will be collected through February 18, 2025. The winner will be announced on March 3, 2025, and will receive a $200 gift certificate courtesy of Blick Art Materials, and will be featured on MOAD’s Instagram page (@moadmdc) and The Freedom Tower’s Instagram page (@miamifreedomtower). Up to three submissions are allowed per person.
Please email your entries to Jennifer Weinberg at [email protected].
