Collection Highlights

The Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) collects works of art from the second half of the twentieth century and the early twenty-first century, preserving and exhibiting the work of compelling artists and designers of various periods, generations, and cultures, of local, national, or international significance. The collection embodies a rich critical memory, highlighting key moments in the history of art—movements and periods that help define our culture and era.

With more than eight hundred works, MOAD’s permanent collection spans painting, sculpture, works on paper, photography, video, film, and installation. It features works by emerging artists as well as major figures of Minimalism, Pop Art, and Conceptual Art, and it includes artists from across the world, with a special emphasis on Latin America and the Caribbean. Among the artists represented in the permanent collection are John Baldessari, José Bedia, Linda Benglis, Joseph Beuys, Ross Bleckner, John Chamberlain, Christo and Jeanne-Claude, Sue Coe, Lynne Golob Gelfman, Adolph Gottlieb, David Hockney, Robert Indiana, Jasper Johns, Donald Judd, Wassily Kandinsky, Pat Lipsky, Marisol, María Martínez-Cañas, Robert Motherwell, Louise Nevelson, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, Emilio Sanchez, Julian Schnabel, Jesús Rafael Soto, Cy Twombly, Andy Warhol, William Wegman, and Purvis Young.
