Urbana Volume XIX

September 16th, 2026
- November 1st, 2026
Location: MDC's Padrón Campus Art Gallery, Building 3, Room 3113 — 627 SW 27th Ave., Miami, FL 33135

Housed in the Communication, Arts & Philosophy Department, Urbana was founded in 2008. Every year students at Miami Dade College’s Padrón Campus come together to publish an annual issue of fiction, non-fiction, photography and drawing submitted by any MDC student currently enrolled.

The Urbana editors and designers have complete creative control. The magazine has gathered numerous awards over the years showcasing the creativity and collaboration of students. All awards are listed on the awards tab.

There have been many faculty advisors. For many years Professor Emily Sendin guided the students on her own or with other colleagues such as Alex Salinas, Liza Greenberg and Omar Figueras. As of 2022, Professors Omar Figueras and Alicia Garcia have co-advised the student organization.

This exhibition celebrates the work behind Volume 19, presenting all the interior pages through a large-scale installation. To learn more about the Urbana publication, visit the Urbana website here.
