The artist&#8217;s avant-garde choreography (he was the lead choreographer for the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics) is combined with a new series of large-scale works unveiled at MOAD. This is his first museum exhibition in the United States dedicated to a solo series of paintings in collaboration with site-specific performances.<\/p>\n<p>Born in China\u2019s Hunan province, the son of Chinese opera professionals, Shen Wei began his training in painting and calligraphy. Since founding his company, Shen Wei Dance Arts, his work has been a constant dialogue between art and movement, painting and dance.
